While he never won the Mr. Olympia title, Gaspari successfully etched his name in the coveted trophy of the Arnold Classic in 1989. Rich Gaspari recalled his initial days

Recently, the bodybuilding legend, Rich Gaspari, posted a picture on his Instagram, recalling his initial days when he used to be a rookie. The throwback picture was of a poster, and the caption detailed it. He wrote, “This was my very first cover in a magazine I had just moved to California as an unknown bodybuilder with passion and drive to be a champion. I was working as a manager of the Gold’s Gym in Reseda and since the gym was close to the Weider office they did many photo shoots at the gym with many of the current champions.…”

Furthermore, he talked about getting on the cover page of the 1984 Flex magazine. Sharing an anecdote Gaspari added, “For me it was an opportunity to be noticed by Joe Weider himself that I was coming up as the next champion. I really wasn’t noticed until 8 months later when I was @lee_haney_official training partner getting ready for the Nationals and Lee was on a mission to win his first Mr. Olympia.”
