Each of the three is a legend in their fashion. While Arnold hit the screens with the blockbuster ‘Terminator franchise, Stallone had ‘Rambo’ and Willis, ‘Die Hard.’ Besides their success, they came together for the opening of their restaurant venture, Planet Hollywood, in 1991.

Clad in the ‘90s style, the three gentlemen, Sly, Arnie, and Willis, sat in a row unlike the action sequences seen in their movies. The interviewer remarked on the visual of seeing them, stating, “It’s good to see three such physical and heroic figures sitting together.” As true as he described, he quickly jumped to a question. And asked, “In a friendly way, are you chums?”

Without a moment’s delay, they all agreed. “Yeah! We are all friends,” “Absolutely!” Quizzed by their responses, he asked, “But you were all going up for the same roles really most of the time. Aren’t you…??” The three stars interrupted him, “Noooo!!” Not convinced, the host asked Arnold, “You would like to have done Rambo?”

The Terminator actor gave an interesting answer stating, “When it is for less dialogue, then I move in. When it is for more physical stuff, he [Sly] moves.” Agreeing with the explanation, Bruce said, “That’s right.” Furthermore, Stallone explained how definitive each of their characters was and “carved out our niches and they really don’t overlap.”

The reunion of the trio for the Expendables

In 2009, the Rambo star aspired to find certain personalities that would never work together. “It’s like a dream team,” he said. “Arnold, Bruce, and I will be working together for the first time.” Also, he said that it was very difficult to get them all together at the same time. “It’s impossible to get all those egos in the same room.”

Schwarzenegger, who was then the governor of California, agreed to do a cameo role in the movie. In an interview, he joked about the role stating, “I walk out of a hotel or out of an office building and [Stallone] will walk up and we will bump into each other and there will be some mumbling and then we will walk off.”
