Maria Shriver published her book “I’ve Been Thinking…” in 2018. In an interview with BUILDSeries, in 2018, Shriver opened up about how adamant her children are about her health.

In the interview, Maria Shriver was asked what her children taught her. Maria replied that they had advised her to be patient and to have a wide-open heart. They also introduced Maria to the benefits of nurturing and self-care.

Maria revealed that her children are adamant about her health. She said, “I think they saw me take care of my mother and my father. One who had strokes, one who had Alzheimer’s, and I think they don’t want to end up in that role that they saw me in“.

Shriver expressed how she was scared about stepping into her mother’s role. Maria agreed that being a mother is more like training on the job and her children helped her become the better mother she is today.

The mother of four also talked about the importance of meditation in balancing one’s life. She stated that she did not find meditation easy but became accustomed to it gradually. Today, meditation is an essential part of her health and self-care routine.
