Former Mayor of Los Angeles and a friend of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Richard Riordan, passed away at 92. He was also a successful banker, lawyer, businessman, and Korean War veteran. Riordan gave politics a shot too late in life, after 60, but had a successful run nonetheless. He served two terms in office from 1993 to 2001. The news of his passing was confirmed by his daughter, Patricia Riordan Torrey.

Soon after the saddening news broke, condolences started flooding in. Among the countless well-wishers of the family was the former Governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger. Remembering his old friend, Schwarzenegger took to his Twitter to pay his respects.

Arnold Schwarzenegger mourns the loss of Richard Riordan

On 19 April 2023, Richard Riordan passed away at his Brentwood home in Los Angeles. While his daughter broke the news, the cause of his death has not been revealed yet. Earlier today, bodybuilder turned politician, Arnold Schwarzenegger took to Twitter to address the unfortunate news. Schwarzenegger wrote, “Dick Riordan was a leader, a mentor and a dear friend.”

Schwarzenegger revealed that if Riordan ran for the Governor of California, then rather than competing, he would have supported him.
