Unlike other evenings, the date 25th September 2021 will remain forever engraved in the memory of Ronnie Coleman, the legendary bodybuilder who won the Mr. Olympia title eight consecutive times. Though many were awarded that night, none were as special as Ronnie’s. In acknowledgment of his contribution, he was awarded the Arnold Classic Lifetime Achievement Award. The day became even more special when he received the honor from bodybuilding champion Arnold Schwarzenegger himself.

As the crowd cheered, Ronnie could not hide his tears. As the King shed happy tears, the Austrian Oak later took to his Instagram to pay him his respect. After the show, Arnold shared a heart-warming post that sure moved the bodybuilding GOAT to tears again.

Arnold Schwarzenegger applauded Ronnie Coleman

In a year-old Instagram post, the two are seen smiling brightest for the camera and enjoying each other’s company. As Ronnie tightly held onto his award, Arnold had his grip tight on Ronnie’s shoulder. Praising Ronnie for his achievement, the seven times Mr. Olympia winner wrote, “I love @ronniecoleman8.”

Further, into the post, Arnold also wrote, I was so proud to give him this year’s lifetime achievement award.” The 75-year-old also praised the bodybuilding champion by calling him “a great champion, a wonderful evangelist for bodybuilding, and a fantastic human.”

That day, as Ronnie received his award, he could hardly control his emotions. A man of few words, who is otherwise known for his formidable presence, showed that world his softer side. Remembering his late mother, the 8x Mr. Olympia champion was at a loss for words. For him, that moment was “gut-wrenching.”

When emotions overpowered Ronnie

When Ronnie sat for a podcast episode with the Nothing But A Podcast team, he revealed how he felt during the moment. He shared that receiving the honor was an overwhelming experience for him. Furthermore, the fact that his mother was not present made him more captivated by emotions.

He lost his mother in 2017. Ronnie always talked about his mother and her pivotal role in his career. He revealed that before that, his mother was always beside him at every significant event. Thus, not seeing her on such a special occasion was emotionally painful for him. As the video of Ronnie getting emotional on stage also went viral,  wishes poured in numbers for the King!
