“He Didn’t Have the Technology I Had”: Humble Ronnie Coleman Named 7x Mr. Olympia as Bodybuilding GOAT Instead of Himself in 2021

The culture of comparing two bodybuilders of different eras seems like an eternal thing. And things get intense when it comes to legends of bodybuildingRonnie Coleman and Arnold Schwarzenegger are two of the biggest names in the sport’s history, and the debate over who’s the greatest among the two often comes to the surface. However, The King once brought the everlasting debate to an end by telling how Arnold has got an upper edge over him. 

The 8x Mr. Olympia was conferred with the Lifetime Achievement Award in the Arnold Classic of 2021. With Arnold standing just next to Coleman, there could’ve been no better place for him to express his opinion. 

Coleman believes Arnold Schwarzenegger is the GOAT

Big Ron said that he always considers Schwarzenegger the GOAT. Coleman added that people often get shocked after listening to him as he holds the record of getting Mr. Olympia titles eight times. “They say why, we were thinking of you?” Coleman said. However, he had a strong explanation for his choice.

Ronnie said that Schwarzenegger competed in an era when bodybuilders weren’t getting enough facilities as he got. “Back in the day when Arnold did it, he didn’t have the technology I had.” Even after many limitations, he continued his dominance for nearly a decade.

The king believes that it was Schwarzenegger’s sheer commitment and dedication that took him to the heights. “He got all the mass, class and size with pure hard work and dedication,” Coleman said in his speechThe fact that Coleman made this statement from a grand stage made it a big deal for the fans. However, it wasn’t the first time Coleman had expressed his emotions about the Austrian Oak.

Ronnie’s affection for Arnold

Coleman has often emphasized that old players get less credit than what they truly deserve. In an interview with the London Reel, The King made a similar comment on the greatness of The Terminator. The eight-time Mr. Olympian said things would’ve been totally different if Schwarzenegger was competing in today’s era.

The legendary bodybuilder said, “He could have competed with just about anybody if he had you know the technology that we have. Anybody, any era you know because like I said they got the stuff now that you know I didn’t have back when I was competing”. It’s great to see how both the legends have shown great respect for each other and are setting examples for the new generation.
