Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone’s early rivalry days are well known in the Hollywood circle. The two legends went from being the strongest enemy to dearest friends over a period. Once Schwarzenegger revealed in an interview in 2012 that he did a small part in a Sylvester Stallone film for free. Schwarzenegger, who otherwise charges millions, confessed how his love for Stallone made him accept that part, as they support each other wholeheartedly.

Sylvester Stallone offered Schwarzenegger a cameo in his big-budget action film The Expendables. The movie earned $224 million at the Box Office. So let us find out the exact details of the same.

In the interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Arnold Schwarzenegger said, “You don’t have to call my agents, I make the decisions”, recalling his word-for-word reply to Stallone on being offered the role in Expendables (2010). He remembered being at the hairdresser when Stallone presented him with the invitation. Schwarzenegger had not acted in a movie for five years at the time, with his last film being ‘The Kid & I’ in 2005.

The critics had asked him about his comeback to the big screen after a long time. It is when he shared the anecdote between the two movie stars. Schwarzenegger had one condition though – He would only work on Saturdays since he was still serving as the Governor of California. He would’ve thus remained busy on all other days with his political interests.

However, when Schwarzenegger was doing the interview in 2012, the sequel to Expendables was ready. He said that while he could’ve only devoted four hours on a Saturday for the first film, he spent around four days for the sequel. This is because he completed his second term in the Governor’s office in 2011.

Schwarzenegger said he wanted to work with his old-foe-turned-friend Stallone for over 20 years, but they couldn’t find the right script until Expendables came along. He also told the critics, “We are in love with each other”, expressing their deep and mutual admiration toward one another.

Schwarzenegger donned the role of Trent ‘Trench’ Mauser again in its third sequel in 2014. But he has bowed out of the upcoming fourth installment of the franchise. His unwavering friendship with Stallone, though, continues to this day.
