When it comes to bodybuilding, Flex Wheeler needs no introduction. The bodybuilding icon has been on the professional scene for a long time. Although Wheeler was never able to experience the glory of Mr. Olympia, that had little impact on his career. Wheeler has won the Arnold Classic title four times. Despite his health issues, Wheeler has contributed a lot to the bodybuilding community. He is also an inspiration for a lot of people out there.

Flex Wheeler was once interviewed by Don Lemmon, where he answered a lot of questions regarding his bodybuilding career. Don asked about Wheeler’s aerobic schedule, and he was pretty straightforward with that.

As a bodybuilder, Flex Wheeler also has to include cardio in his workout routine. Cardio benefits in preventing heart diseases. It is good for fat loss, the bodybuilding legends had no plan for it.

“In the offseason, I usually don’t do cardio,” Wheeler said and continued, “I have a very fast metabolism, so I don’t need to use cardio to drop fat unless I am doing a contest.” Wheeler didn’t need cardio and he only did it before any contest where he needed to lose some fat.

“At that point, I will do up to three sessions per day, with the first before breakfast,” Wheeler said and continued, “I’d say I go for time.” Just a pro tip from the bodybuilding legend!

According to Wheeler, everything has its timing. He just followed the process, and whenever he felt like doing it, he did it.

Wheeler had a significant bodybuilding career before his retirement. He retired only after being diagnosed with a rare kidney disease known as focal segmental glomerulosclerosis in 1999.

Arnold Schwarzenegger once referred to Wheeler as one of the greatest bodybuilders he had ever seen. Even legend Ronnie Coleman used to enjoy competing against Wheeler. Despite all the praise, his health didn’t allow him to have a stable bodybuilding career.
