Jay Cutler on buying a whole cow at a time

Bodybuilding legend Jay Cutler featured on Chris Van Vliet’s podcast in 2021. During their conversation, Cutler revealed a lot about his career. However, one of the most shocking revelations was about his insane diet. Cutler told Chirs: “I literally bought a whole cow at a time.” The four-time Mr. Olympia also said, “I’d buy 30 dozen eggs at a time… I’d buy 140 pounds of chicken at a time.” Cutler always told the local butcher to carve an entire cow into different cuts of meat. He would then store all the red meat in one big freezer.

Jay stunned Chirs with his insane diet story. Chris was so surprised he asked, “Was it 10,000 calories?”. However, the former Mr. Olympia dispelled any myths about the calories he was consuming, “Between five and six. 10,000 Clean calories is very hard to get and people exaggerate the calories.”

Well, even if Cutler wasn’t eating 10,000 calories a day, 5000 to 6000 is a huge number as well. Jay also revealed some more crazy facts about his diet, “I was eating, you know, 20 egg whites for breakfast.” However, Cutler has already revealed that during some diets, he’d eat a lot more than 20 egg whites each day.

The four-time Mr. Olympia needed to eat like this because, “I literally ate, slept and trained that’s all I did.” Cutler had a very rigorous training regime and worked through a lot of sets as opposed to always pushing heavy weights.

The former champion was an underdog most of his career. However, Cutler put all the doubters in their place when he beat Ronnie Coleman in 2006. Cutler then defeated now seven-time Mr. Olympia, Phil Heath. Jay Cutler also has three Arnold Classic titles, three NPC titles, and many more.

Cutler followed a truly extreme diet during his bodybuilding days. No normal person could eat even close to 6000 calories a day.
