The short clip from Yeoh’s extended speech spoke about her experience being an older woman in Hollywood. She boldly claimed that women in the entertainment industry shouldn’t listen to people who tell them that they weren’t in their prime years. Just like Yeoh, they could still make it big without age being a limitation. Shriver took this message and had some thoughts on it.

Inspired by Yeoh, Maria Shriver reiterated how the message was significant for everyone. As she held up her award, the Oscar-winning actress exclaimed, ” ladies, don’t let anybody tell you, you are ever past your prime.” The journalist picked up on Yeoh’s idea of not surrendering to the circumstances.

In a detailed caption, Shriver spoke about how one must constantly seek and reach out to opportunities. They might seem distant but that doesn’t mean they’re impossible to achieve. Inspired by the speech, the mother of four wrote, “Believing starts with you and it starts with showing up for yourself. But, we also cannot believe the naysayers, the people who constantly try to put us down or lead us astray.” Leading up on a high note, Yeoh wasn’t the only Oscar winner who grabbed Shriver’s attention.
