Ronnie Coleman has seen massive ups and downs in his bodybuilding career. His first success at Mr. Olympia came in 1998 when he left the likes of Flex Wheeler and Kevin Levrone behind to clinch the title. Subsequently, he dominated the competition and won eight consecutive titles during the period 1998-2005.

However, excessive and rigid workout plans took a toll on his body. He went on to experience herniated disks, for which he underwent multiple surgeries. He once opened up about his surgeries and the lengthy recovery process.
Ronnie Coleman once talked about his 13-hours long surgery
During an interview, Coleman remembered one of the surgeries that took 13 hours and cost him half a million dollars. Talking about the same, he said, “One [surgery] was $500,000. 13 hours of surgery. For every surgery, I try to take about six months off.”

Further, he added, “As soon as I’m able to get back, I try to get back, right away. I’m not even half as strong as I used to be.”
The multiple surgeries took a toll on Coleman’s body. Additionally, they exacerbated his injuries and, as a result, he lost most of his mobility. Coleman once also shared that he believed he might not be able to walk again.
