Certain roles are once-in-a-lifetime opportunities and consequently become an identity for the actor that fans reckon them with. Directed by three-time Academy winner, James Cameron, The Terminator defined the bodybuilding icon Arnold Schwarzenegger as an acting sensation. To commemorate the franchise’s 25th anniversary, the star director converted the iconic movie into 3D in 2017.

The movie which still serves as an inspiration for sci-fi movies is famous for its action sequences and direction. Celebrating the 25th anniversary of Terminator 2: Judgement Day released in 2017, Cameron shared the struggles Arnold’s stunt double went through to give the audience a breathtaking movie experience.

James Cameron wouldn’t do it today

The 3D version of the blockbuster action movie was released as the ‘Skynet Edition’. The version features a stunt where the Austrian Oak’s stuntman “runs onto the back of the tow truck and fires a gun.” Cameron described it as the most dangerous stunt he’s ever been involved with.

The award-winning director said he couldn’t use a digital double those days as done in the 21st century. Peter Kent, the stunt double, performed the stunt “perfectly.” However, it was no easy ordeal. “..there was no forgiveness for that stuff–you either did it right or you were dead,” he explained.

Furthermore, Cameron stated that nobody should get injured or killed for a movie. The stunts can be performed by a digital double. However, “somebody’s still got to do the stunt” but it would be done in a much safer way.

The Terminator actor and director collaborated for a noble cause; to create awareness about the dangerous effects of climate change with a short film in 2016. The main areas of concern were raging fires, the untimely melting of mountain snow, and more.

Furthermore, as a part of WildAid’s 5 To Do Today climate action campaign, they also joined together to advocate for reduced meat consumption as livestock emits global warming gases more than transportation combined.
