Arnold Schwarzenegger has had a roller coaster of a love life. From casual flings to a marriage that lasted years only to end on a sour note because of an extra-marital affair, the Austrian Oak was subject to all shades of love. Although the former bodybuilder bagged many accolades in every field he participated in, his personal life was often under scrutiny.

Rolling back to 1991, his wife, who was then pregnant with their second child, appeared with a talk show host Arsenio Hall where Maria Shriver was her candid self. During a laughter-filled interview, Maria Shriver had to stop to comfort the comedian host. Apparently, Arsenio made a joke that made him nervous.

Throughout the interview, Maria enjoyed herself giggling at jokes and hitting back. While Arsenio indulged in a candid chat with the journalist, he mentioned that he was quite nervous around her. The comedian also fumbled with words here and there, which made it convincing for the audience. However, he bounced back with a reason that drew both laughs and shock from the audience. Arsenio mentioned that he gets “nervous around, you know, people who have slept with Arnold Schwarzenegger“.

While such a statement would invoke shock and even disapproval from one, Maria took it sportingly. She giggled at the comedian’s joke and threw a jab at him instead by saying, “I hope you don’t know too many of them”. Such a witty remark dropped many jaws in the audience.

Later, reassuringly, she said, “Don’t be nervous, it’s okay”. Struggling to find words and amazed by the witty reply, Arsenio assured Maria that he thought Arnold was, in fact, a virgin when he met her.

Even back then, Arnold’s affairs were not unfamiliar to the masses. Although Shriver always vouched for him, especially during Arnold’s political career, things didn’t end well for the couple. In 2011, his affair with the house help, Mildred Baena, came to light. That same year, Arnold and Maria decided to divorce.

Arnold Schwarzenegger has four children with Maria and one son with Mildred. Currently, the star is dating physical therapist Heather Milligan.
