After securing a disappointing seventh place in Mr. Olympia 2022, bodybuilder Hunter Labrada has taken a new course of action for this year’s Olympia preparation. He aims to figure out his peak rather than “wrecking the Olympia.” Previously, Labrada dominated other bodybuilding competitions like Tampa Pro 2020 and IFBB Chicago Pro 2021. After debuting in Mr. Olympia 2020, the 30-year-old has mostly been able to secure his position in the top ten.

Here’s what’s going inside Hunter Labrada’s mind

After Mr. Olympia 2022, Hunter Labrada is yet to receive an invite for Olympia 2023. Therefore, he has planned to participate in at least two competitions this year to get his entry. Although the mass monster has not revealed the competitions he is participating in, he is pretty confident about winning them as he has altered his training regime and diet.

Ultimately, Labrada’s change in his regime is to focus on figuring out his career’s best body. In an interview with Serious and Silliness Bodybuilding, Labrada revealed, “I will say this. I’m not focused on going back to the Olympia and wrecking the Olympia. The only thing in my mind right now that I want to come out of this year is I want to figure my peak out.

Firstly, Labrada is focusing on trimming his waistline before beginning his prep for Mr.Olympia. Secondly, he has ditched chasing size. Nevertheless, Labrada is consuming six meals each day that is filled with proteins, veggies, fats, and a decent amount of carbs.

Securing seventh place in Mr. O 2022 was a shocking demotion considering Labrada’s performance in 2021 when he came fourth. As a result, his coach, Ben Chow, needed to analyze the fault in their training process. In an interview, Chow admitted that Labrada’s training regime has errors.

He revealed that the off-season phase before Olympia 2022 was pretty lengthy. Hence, their team had to drag Labrada six weeks before to train harder. The coach stated that long off-season makes it trickier for the bodybuilder to remain disciplined and on track. Therefore, Chow felt that their team ‘mistimed’ Labrada’s training plan due to which his body could not effectively provide the desired results.
