“Giving My Mental and My Body the Rest”: IFFB Pro Bodybuilder Withdraws Participation Days Before Arnold Classic 2023

The roster for the bodybuilding event Arnold Classic 2023 is out, and Charles Griffen is one of the athletes named on the much-awaited list. However, the IFFB Pro has decided to opt out of the prestigious championship. To inform his fans and followers about this, Griffen took to his social media.

He also stated the reason behind backing out from one of the elite bodybuilding championships. Here is why and how Griffen announced his withdrawal.

Charles Griffen takes a mental and physical break

Athletes nowadays do not shy away from resting their bodies and minds for improved future performances. For similar reasons, Griffen has decided to withdraw from the Arnold Classic 2023 championship even though his name was listed on the official roster.

In his Instagram story, Griffen wrote, “The Arnold roster is out my name is on it. But I’m giving my mental and my body the rest it needs to be my best for this upcoming season. I dropped the ball on communicating this earlier with the correct people. So I will not be competing at the Arnold.” In 2022, Griffen was placed second at the IFBB Indy Pro Show. Hence, fans were looking forward to watching the bodybuilder take the stage at the Arnold Classic 2023.

However, Griffen has decided to prioritize his health first, which shall also benefit him in future competitions. Taking mental and physical health breaks has become extremely important in sports. Once, former Arnold Classic champion Kai Greene also revealed how a strong mind is necessary for a physical sport like bodybuilding.

Greene, once stated how mental health had played a key role in his success in bodybuilding. He confessed that he believed in the mind-muscle connection and advocated the same. He explained that a strong mind could help bodybuilders to control their thoughts and improve their training.

According to Greene, sound mental health improves focus, which can be helpful while working out in the gym. The bodybuilder turned actor, artist, and entrepreneur also shared that a strong mind can help one claim success in various other fields and not just in sports.

Like Greene, Griffen has also understood the importance of rest and quality health in training. Hopefully, Griffen’s decision to take a break for himself inspires other young athletes and sets an example for several other bodybuilders.
