“He Chipped a Bone”: Bodybuilding Legend Arnold Schwarzenegger Crossed All the Limits While Shooting for His Movie ‘Commando’ in 1985

Even global action stars often insist on performing their stunts. After all, they want the stunts to be as realistic as possible. However, the performer must commit and be believable for these heart-pounding scenes to deliver genuinely. Similarly, the renowned actor Arnold Schwarzenegger loved doing his action stunts by himself. 

 

However, this has led him to severe injuries several times. But nothing can stop the Mr. Olympia title winner legendary bodybuilder.

However, one movie from that period is far too forgotten for anyone. It was the movie, ‘Commando,’ which was released in 1985. The film was a pure shot covering the physique of Arnie in a golden frame. Remember the machine gun Arnold used while putting it on his shoulder? Of course, it was artificial, but there was something else that the Austrian Oak did and had to live with the consequence after that.

Once, during an interview, Australian actor Vernon Wells shared a few words about Arnie’s injuries after a stunt. He stated, “The mano-a-mano fight between Arnold and I was brutal. People were waiting to see which of us went to the hospital first. He chipped a bone in his shoulder; I dislocated my elbow.”

Talking about another scene, Wells stated Arnie even lifted a huge phone booth. Wells said, ‘Arnold, just lift up that phone booth. It weighs 200 pounds, and you’re lifting 350-pound weights.’ And he said, ‘Are you crazy? I can’t lift that phone booth with a man in it!”

It’s important to remember that in 1985, Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger were engaged in a friendly box office competition at its peak. Shortly after, Schwarzenegger got quickly advance through the ranks by the end of the 1980s to become the most renowned action movie actor.

The former Mr. Olympia became one of the biggest stars in the movie business as the 1990s arrived. And Arnie’s life became better as a result of his fame. In addition, the bodybuilder governor landed multiple roles in well-known movies during the 1990s, and he is still rocking the world of Hollywood.
