And the 7x Mr. Olympia, Arnold Schwarzenegger has finally given his take on the issue. His recent comments on the issue can play a major role in ending this debate.

Over the years, he has shared his knowledge and expertise in bodybuilding with the world. One of the most frequently asked questions he receives is how much protein one needs to build muscle. In his recent newsletter, Schwarzenegger settled the debate once and for all.

Arnold Schwarzenegger gives a detailed answer

While there is a plethora of research on the upper limit of consuming protein, the Austrian oak talked in detail about the protein diet according to individual needs. He referenced research on the minimum required protein intake. The minimum effective dose for protein is approximately ½ a gram of protein per pound of your goal body weight.”, he wrote in his newsletter.

Schwarzenegger also explained that it is not just about how much protein you consume but also the quality of the protein. He recommends consuming lean protein sources during different meals like eggs and turkey for breakfast and chicken breast for dinner.

However, he also stated that this number can change for someone who is looking to build muscle and increase their strength.  If you’re healthy, high-protein diets do not cause damage to your kidneys.”, he added. Schwarzenegger backed all his advice with scientific research. However, this is not the first time that the Terminator made headlines with his diet advice.
