The bodybuilding icon has won the Arnold Classic four times, which was a record back then. Bodybuilding legend Arnold Schwarzenegger described Wheeler as one of the best bodybuilders he has ever seen. And even, Ronnie Coleman, also stated that Wheeler is his best competitor ever.

Flex Wheeler had suicidal thoughts as a child

In a recent interview, Flex Wheeler shared insights on his life. He said, “I didn’t think I would get out of my twenties. I lived like I wasn’t going to be here long.” He added, “I spent money and I burnt everything in my thirties and my forties.” Wheeler shares how he always had suicidal thoughts and did some things because he didn’t want to be here.

Wheeler had to be in the hospital many times throughout his career, but he recalls his latest visit to the hospital is particularly horrible. He has never had any heart problems, but this around, his heart wasn’t really doing all that good. He had multiple monitors on him to keep his heart’s vitals in check. This affected Wheeler deeply. He couldn’t sleep for days on end by the fear of not waking up ever again.

Wheeler says he will stay strong and fight back

Determined to fight back, Wheeler has decided to give up suicidal thoughts permanently. The icon is now looking forward to his post-retirement life positively, and he is now focusing on martial arts. He also had a stint in an executive position for the sports nutrition company All American EFX. He also manages their sponsored athletes in addition to appearing in company advertisements.
