In the latest edition of his newsletter, The Pump Daily, the 75-year-old made a confession. The bodybuilding action icon also explained a daily practice that can benefit a person’s mental health.

Arnold Schwarzenegger explains how to reset the mind

In The Pump Day, Arnie informed his readers of a study by researchers from Boston University and Harvard, which he found to be optimistic and can help people live longer. However, no one, including the Terminator actor, is immune to feeling depressed. The former Mr. Universe explained his point through an anecdote. He recounted how, last week, he got out of bed at 5:45 am to feed his ever-growing family of pets. However, he was at odds in his mind. “I wasn’t as excited as I normally am to see the animals and start my morning,” wrote Arnie.

 “You have no reason to be upset,” Arnie said to himself, but it didn’t change how he felt. So, the bodybuilding icon decided to practice what he preached to his readers. “I stopped my brain and went about my routine,” wrote Schwarzenegger. Arnie acknowledged, “I felt a little depressed,” in the latest edition of The Pump Dailybut completed his chores.

He fed the animal, rode his bike, worked out at the gym, and “by breakfast, it was like a black and white TV turned to color.” Arnold Schwarzenegger revealed that being outdoors, working out, and going for walks can make a big difference.

“The next time you’re having trouble seeing a better future, a 30-minute walk outside can extinguish your negative thoughts and lift your mood,” wrote the bodybuilding icon. The True Lies actor explained, “walking can disrupt the feedback loop of negative thoughts and elevate mood.”

Besides improving mental health, walking benefits physical health as well. The 75-year-old explained that if someone walks 20 mins seven days a week, they’ll “achieve the recommendation of 150 minutes of exercise per week.” According to the bodybuilding legend, exercising 150 mins a week can help a person live longer and fall sick less often.
