The 7-time Olympia champion, Phil Heath, is a bodybuilding legend. Also known as ‘The Gift’, Heath is one of the richest bodybuilders in present times. In a 2019 podcast, Phil disclosed untold stories about his Olympia journey. The bodybuilding legend also told about an interesting food poisoning incident before the 2009 Olympia.

The bodybuilding legend narrated that he didn’t exactly know the reason behind the health anomaly. As the health condition didn’t subside, health professionals came into the room at 5:30 am the next day. They advised him not to compete in the Olympia and instead, seek medical attention from a hospital.
Heath made a momentary decision. “I’m not going to the hospital but if I throw up one more time, I’ll go.” Revealing the reason for this decision, he spoke about how many fans had paid money to see him. Hence, he wanted to at least compete, though he wouldn’t win. Heath was placed fifth in that Olympia competition which he said was a disappointment.

Talking further about his Olympia journey, Heath divulged how he ate more than 5000 calories a day before the Olympia contest. The bodybuilding legend also spoke about how carbohydrates and protein-rich food were a part of his diet. Heath also disclosed how he was particular about the fish he ate because he didn’t want to get mercury poisoning.
Phil also explained how he didn’t eat brown rice much. Continuing, he added that he ate white rice and various types of potatoes such as sweet potatoes, white pasta or wheat pasta as a part of his diet. The bodybuilder highlighted how he had a requirement for dense carbohydrates. He also stated that he didn’t do cheat meals.
