Maria Shriver captured his heart, and he married her in 1986. However, things ended with a divorce after 25 years of marriage. Nevertheless, Arnold recounted a breathtaking moment when he met his future wife, Maria.

It is evident from the old interviews that Arnold used to feel that he and Shriver were a perfect couple. But unfortunately, the couple’s divorce caused the entire family to split and wrecked a beautiful love story.

Arnold Schwarzenegger describes his ‘love at first sight’

In reflecting on the moment when he met his wife for the first time, Arnold chose the perfect words to describe his love for her. Before they began dating, the former couple met at the Robert F. Kennedy Tennis Tournament in 1977. During an interview with CBS News, the host asked Arnold how he fell in love with Maria.

With dazzling words, the bodybuilder beautifully described his ex-wife. He said, “I was fascinated by her. I would say because she had an extraordinary look. She had the dark hair that I always loved in women, she had this big smile. She had the most extraordinary personality, laughing all of them, full of joy, full of energy, and all that.”

He explained further how he had never met somebody like her, “So I definitely said to myself. I don’t remember having ever met someone like this. They had this package of being smart and quick and everything else.” How he described Maria was incredible; unfortunately, some circumstances caused the relationship to break down. While both struggled with the couple’s therapy, their divorce took approximately ten years to complete.

The reason for their separation

People valued their love as a relationship goal, but their romance got tangled up in a web of lies. It was revealed in 2011 that he has a son with one of the housekeepers in his residence. Further, the housekeeper’s name got disclosed as Mildred Baena. Schwarzenegger confirmed in 2015 that Maria even tried relationship therapy to resolve their issues.

However, due to this setback, he even accepted his mistake in front of the world. With Maria, he had four children, and with Mildred, he had a son named Joseph Baena.
