Pro bodybuilders often get divided in their approach to different workouts. While some prefer lifting weights, some fitness freaks talk about smaller weights and more reps. This has been the case for cardio too. There are many bodybuilding legends who think too much cardio is unnecessary, but there are others who look at it as something imperative. 7-times Mr. Olympia Phil Heath prefers the latter.

He even mentioned today’s gym junkies, “I see a lot of guys specially on social media, talk about how, ‘oh I wanna don’t cardio because it’s gonna ruin my gains.’ Well, guess what, you’re gonna need your heart to build a pump, as you pump those weights.” For Heath, 3-4 days of cardio will eventually develop the body and help in getting a leaner physique. In addition, Mr. O also prescribed some exercises like doing an incline treadmill, stationary bike, or even a run on the treadmill.

Just like this former IFBB pro, Jay Cutler too felt the importance of including cardio before or after the weight training.

It helps in getting lean rapidly, as per the legend, “Remember cardio is necessary when you are trying to lean down and increase metabolism.”
