Arnold’s good friend and the organizer of the Arnold Sports Festival, Jim Lorimer, recently passed away. While he mourned the loss of his friend, he also highlighted his contributions. A day after Jim’s demise, Arnold penned a tribute to his friend in the form of a blog post. The star recounted Jim’s contributions to the bodybuilding world. He also appreciated Jim’s presence in his life and expressed gratitude for his consistent support.

Arnold Schwarzenegger remembered his friend’s gifts to the bodybuilding community

To Arnold, Jim was not only a business partner but also a good friend. The icon recalled the first time he met Jim Lorimer at the Mr. World bodybuilding championship 52 years ago. Upon looking at the way Jim had arranged and organized the competition, Arnold knew that he wanted to stay connected. Later, they began organizing small bodybuilding shows that grew to become a giant sports festival.

Throughout this, Arnold wasn’t the only one juggling multiple roles. Jim Lorimer, at the time, was also an FBI agent, an executive at Nationwide Insurance, and the chair of the US Olympic Committee for Women’s Sports. Amidst all of this, he also helped Arnold organize sports-related events during his political career. Jim was truly one of a kind and the former bodybuilder recognized that.

“I will miss his wisdom, I will miss his mentorship, I will miss his kind, kind heart. I will miss his sense of humor and his desire to make the world a better place and his friendship. He helped make me who I am. He’ll always be with all of us. Jim will always be with me,” wrote Arnold as he recalled all of his contributions to the bodybuilding community. The two of them worked together to organize many more events that encouraged sports among the masses. While the icon missed his friend, he knew that his learning would go a long way.

Who was Jim Lorimer?

Jim Lorimer was the promoter and co-founder of the Arnold Sports Festival. Although he initially began as a special agent for the F.B.I., went on to pursue many other occupations. Jim primarily highlighted the importance of organized women’s sports and created the Ohio Track Club’s women’s team in 1959.
