Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sergio Oliva’s posing controversy of 1970

During the 1970 Mr. Olympia, there was a tough competition between the defending champion Sergio Oliva aka ‘The Myth’ and Arnold Schwarzenegger. The Jury couldn’t decide who should be awarded the title until the end. However, tired of posing for so long, the two bodybuilders decided to walk off the stage. But while Sergio got off the stage, Arnold stayed and started posing once again and eventually won the title. Hence, people assumed he tricked Sergio until the former Mr. Olympia himself unearthed the matter.

In an interview, ‘The Myth’ revealed“There was no deceit or anything. It was already set up. The judges said that I gave up the pose down. We already finished the pose down. Nothing else.”
