During an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Schwarzenegger’s ex-wife was asked about her role in the marriage. Shriver listed the main things every wife has thought about her marriage life. She said, “I grew up thinking, you know, I am gonna get married and have happily ever after. And everything would be great. Then the work begins. You know you have to learn about forgiveness; you have to learn about keeping your mouth shut in times.”

Maria said about a woman’s sacrifices in marriage: “Being open about giving, compromising, and compromising and yet be true to who you are and what you believe and what you accept and what you want. And you have to make it your priority in your life. I work as hard in my marriage as I do at raising my kids, and I try to pay attention to it every day. Arnold and Shriver had a long relationship of 25 years and four children. She pointed out how a woman should also be honest with herself. Maria added, ” What is working for you, what’s not, how do you feel about it, and what is going on with kids? It’s communicating. It’s talking, giving, and taking, It’s going maybe places he wants to go; I don’t want to go. It’s him accepting things about me and me accepting things about him. It’s me not trying to change him even though I would like to change a couple of things.”

There was a time when Schwarzenegger described his feelings when he first fell for his ex-wife. In an interview with CBS News, Arnold revealed that he first met Shriver at the Robert F. Kennedy Tennis Tournament in 1977. Further, he added that Shriver’s smile and personality, which was full of energy and joy, left a long-lasting impression on his heart.

Unfortunately, the couple separated their ways after trying out various couple therapies and hustling for ten years for divorce. In contrast, the reason for their separation was a heartbreaking disclosure for Maria. In 2011, it was revealed that Arnold has a son with his housekeeper, Mildred Baena.
