Ronnie Coleman never intended to pursue professional bodybuilding. Though he always had a passion for getting bigger muscles, he never imagined himself as a bodybuilder. Having completed his BSc in accounting, the young man was happy with his role at the Police Department. But as destiny would have it, the ‘free gym membership’ changed his life’s course forever.

For Ronnie to manage everything was getting difficult
Even before Ronnie made his debut in the bodybuilding stage, he was working full-time as a police officer. Happy with Ronnie’s success, even his department supported him in chasing his dream. In his initial years as a professional bodybuilder, his Police Chief showed him great support. He did not pressure Ronnie with work and allowed him to work at his own pace.

However, things became a little difficult for him to manage as a new Chief joined the force. Unlike the previous one, the new Chief, on joining, informed Ronnie, “I can’t do what he was doing. I’m new here.” Taking no names, further into the documentary, the King revealed that it was difficult for him to manage so many things together.

He quoted, “I’m like, man, I can’t be working all the time and prepare for Mr. Olympia.” So eventually took a tough call. With guest appearances and professional commitments, things were a little hectic. So, he eventually decided to call it quits.

Throughout his professional career, Coleman climbed one ladder after the other. He did not just win the maximum Mr. Olympia title alongside Lee Haney but also won the most IFBB professional titles. For eight consecutive years, he dominated the stage like no other.

However, the road to success for Ronnie was never easy. He had to struggle a lot with his health. Having had to undergo 13 major surgeries, Ronnie went through excruciating pain.
