“Less Than 24 Hours to Live”: Bodybuilding Legend Milos Sarcev Opened Up on an Upsetting Incident Four Years Back

Milos Sarcev is a bodybuilding legend with 72 pro shows under his belt. After a prolific competitive bodybuilding career, Sarcev has continued to contribute to the sport. After retiring from competing, the Serbian bodybuilder transitioned to coaching. He has coached many famous bodybuilders and currently coaches Samson Dauda, who placed 6th at Mr. Olympia 2022. Throughout his decades-long career, the Serbian has had many different experiences. However, he once had a life-threatening experience before the 2000 Mr. Olympia contest.

In an interview that four-time Mr. Olympia Jay Cutler posted on his YouTube channel in 2018, Sarcev spoke about his career as a professional bodybuilder. During the interview, the bodybuilder revealed how an accident led to an upsetting and life-threatening incident.

During the interview, Milos Sarcev recounted his use of Synthol. Sarcev said he didn’t feel proud of his decision to use site enhancement oil. In fact, the legendary bodybuilder and coach said it was the “biggest regret” of his life. However, he had no issues talking openly about it, and since the life-threatening incident, he has warned others against using Synthol or other site enhancement oils.

According to Sarcev, the accident happened after he had qualified for the 2000 Mr. Olympia. The legendary coach revealed he injected Synthol in his arms. However, that one time, the injected Synthol traveled to his heart. The result was “congestive heart failure and this ARDS (acute respiratory distress syndrome),” revealed the retired Serbian bodybuilder.

After the incident, Milos Sarcev had to rush to the hospital. “They told me I have less than 24 hours to live, you know, so it was very serious,” said Sarcev. Fortunately, the bodybuilding legend made a complete recovery. He also said when the IFBB found out, “they said even though you’re qualified for 2000 Olympia, you cannot compete.” 

But Sarcev continues to educate, train and inspire people with his knowledge about the sport. With such information, aspiring bodybuilders have a solid knowledge base of what to do and what not to do.
