Drawing the curtain to the final episode of Oprah Winfrey’s famous talk show back in 2011, Maria Shriver stole the limelight. Appearing before a cheering crowd of 15,000, the mother of four took a long breath before adding, “You have shown love, support, wisdom, and most of all…the truth.”

Though Maria took no name, the day stands important because half a day before her husband confessed to having fathered a child out of wedlock. Dressed in an elegant blue teal gown, Maria took the stage at Chicago’s United Center alongside Gayle King for her dear friend.

Speaking herself out, she added, “Over the years, you have shared that very generous spirit–you’ve believed in others, so they can believe in themselves.” For those unversed, Shriver and Winfrey have been friends for over four decades now. Through thick and thin, they have always remained with each other.

The friendship that sustained all hardships 

Regardless of what happened on Maria’s personal front, there was one person who was always there beside her. It was, as Maria recalled, a “spiritual connect” between her and Oprah. Meeting her on the set of WJZ-TV, Winfrey remarked, “I forever think that that was, like, a divine moment that happened because she was one of my true, grounded friendships that carried me through my entire career.”
