Arnold Schwarzenegger might be a strong bodybuilder and an esteemed actor, but in front of his wife, he was just like any other husband. In an interview in 2003, Schwarzenegger hilariously hinted how he was either always apologizing to his now ex-wife, Maria Shriver, or agreeing with her.
During that time, Arnold was promoting the then-upcoming third installment of his movie Terminator. In the interview, Arnie answered questions related to his work as well as his private life. These included questions like the greatest love of his life, his greatest achievement, his greatest fear, the living person he admires the most, etc.

In July 2003, Legendary Hollywood actor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, appeared in an interview with Vanity Fair Magazine. Among the many other questions Schwarzenegger had to answer, he answered one about the phrase he mostly overused. The Terminator actor answered the question without a hitch.
However, he didn’t just give one, but two phrases he mostly overused. They were enough to give a hint of who had the upper hand at home. The two phrases were, “Yes, dear” and “Maria, I said I’m sorry.” In the same interview, Schwarzenegger also revealed that his wife and children are the greatest love of his life.

At one point, it may have been just a phrase Arnie often used at home. Or Schwarzenegger might’ve joked about always apologizing to his wife in 2003. However, it became his reality in 2011, when he had to publicly apologize to his wife after his extramarital affair came to light.

In 2011, Schwarzenegger’s decade-old affair surfaced in the media. During that affair, Arnold Schwarzenegger fathered a love child. The news led to widespread discontent and anger against the bodybuilder. It ultimately led to Shriver filing for divorce from Schwarzenegger. Moreover, before the news became public, Shriver had asked Arnie countless times if he ever had an affair during the 25 years of their marriage. However, Schwarzenegger never confessed.
Post the reveal, Arnold Schwarzenegger released an official statement, addressing the incident. He took full responsibility for his actions and apologized to the masses for being a disappointment. Schwarzenegger also mentioned he had apologized to his then-wife Maria Shriver, his four kids with her, and the rest of their family.
