Ex-couple Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver have always tried to raise their children like any other average American kid. It not only meant humble ways of living but also occasional punishments in case of non-compliance. However, now that she has kids of her own, Katherine’s views about these stern ways of living have drastically changed over the years.

A post on her Instagram story talked about how punishments that kids usually received turned into blessings growing up. Things like going to bed early,  not leaving my house, and not going to a party, are things that adults her age would usually prefer. The post further read, “My childhood punishments have become my adult goals”.

The mother of two described how in order to conserve energy and make his kids understand its importance, Schwarzenegger would resort to an extreme step. In this case, his kids forgot to switch off lights when not in use, he would unscrew the bulbs every time. This quickly discouraged Katherine and her siblings from being careless about electricity.
