Both Elssbiay aka Big Ramy and Andrea Shaw have won their respective Mr. and Ms. Olympia championships for the past 2 years. They would look to continue their glory run this time around as well. Big Ramy looked at Shaw and said, “many, many more to come”, indicating that the 3rd championship might not be their last after all. Andrea Shaw shared the same sentiment. However, she patiently followed it up with, “But we will take one at a time”.

Both Mamdouh Elssbiay and Andrea Shaw previously collaborated together when they traveled to Germany in 2020. They held training events together for budding bodybuilders. This was right after their first-ever Olympia title. Mamdouh took over the mantle from Brandon Curry, who had won in 2019, whereas Shaw usurped Iris Kyle, an African-Indian bodybuilder. Although, it must be noted that Iris Kyle last won in 2014 and the Mr. Olympia competitions were discontinued for 5 years before returning in 2020.
Big Ramy and Shaw had very different upbringings from different parts of the world. While Ramy is from Egypt, Andrea grew up in Detroit, USA. After finding out that she wasn’t tall enough to enter fashion modeling, Shaw went into bodybuilding. Ramy had moved to Kuwait at a young age and became a fisherman there. This is when he started bodybuilding professionally.
