Arnold Schwarzenegger has made a significant and unimpeachable impact, not just on the bodybuilding world, but also beyond. Most fitness fanatics would have been inspired by the bodybuilding icon and aspired to emulate his physique. While a few have done so, there is one common point of agreement. It takes a big man, both literally and metaphorically, to surpass the 6’2″ tall Austrian Oak in stature and build. Two such athletes from completely different sports surpassed the bodybuilding legend, and in his own words, made him ‘look like a chicken’. Now that is saying something about the size of these two individuals!

While one is former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou, the other is 6’7″ New York Jets offensive tackle, Mekhi Becton. In a special moment inside a gym, Becton and ‘The Predator’ had the opportunity to meet Arnold Schwarzenegger. While both athletes look up to the seven-time Mr. Olympia winner, the picture they shared presented a completely different literal narrative.

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s humor and humility are both intact

The trio of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mekhi Becton, and Francis Ngannou were exchanging pleasantries and smiles and seemed in an overall good mood to be in the one place they love spending time, i.e. the gym. Per the images of the special moment in Ngannou’s tweet that were visible in ‘The Governator’s quote retweet, the 75-year-old seemed to be looking up to his companions. ‘Austrian Oak’ wrote, “It was my honor, even though you guys made me look like a little chicken.”

‘The Predator’s tweet saw him quote Schwarzenegger‘s iconic, “If it bleeds, we can kill it” line from the 1987 hit Predator. The former UFC champion also branded his meeting with the Hollywood megastar an honor, before ending his quote with how it was a pleasure to meet the Jets’ OT. Ngannou’s T-shirt even had “Grateful For The Grind” written on it, towards which he was pointing.

Nothing speaks more like Arnold Schwarzenegger than a mixture of humility and humor, but it was rather magnanimous of him to credit the newer generation for their strong build and achievements, despite his accomplishments in life.

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s brush with modern-day giants may have served as a welcome distraction

The three men were all smiles in the photograph. On the work front, Becton had to, unfortunately, miss out on the entire 2022 NFL season due to the avulsion fracture of his right kneecap. But with age by his side, the 23-year-old is soon expected to make a comeback. Meanwhile, Francis Ngannou is a free agent after the UFC stripped him of the title when contract negotiations didn’t see a successful outcome.

The Cameroonian-born fighter has other plans in mind for a payday, as he has expressed his desire to enter the squared circle and kick-start a boxing career. There has been no official announcement about the 6’4″ tall athlete’s combat future, but there would be work going on behind the scenes.

This meet-up was a distraction from all the complexities of professional life. It was a nice little gathering of some prominent individuals from their respective fields. Schwarzenegger, whose bodybuilding days are behind him now, still finds enough reasons to enter the gym and give it his best. And sometimes, meet with younger, newer superstars from different fields.
