Around a decade ago, one of the bodybuilding rivalries that enthralled the audience was that of Phil Heath and Kai Greene. After Greene finished second consecutively three times at Mr. Olympia from 2012-2014, losing every time to Phil Heath, he retired from professional bodybuilding. But putting the proverbial statement to effect, Kai Greene may have left bodybuilding, but bodybuilding never went out of Kai Greene. From continuing to do 500 lbs bench presses to performing Arnold Presses with ease, here’s how Kai Greene is still impacting the bodybuilding world.

Kai Greene recently shared an Instagram video with the caption “PEEK A BOO” followed by more detail. It was his unique-and-quirky way of demonstrating how Arnold Presses must be done, and it certainly looked impressive.

Kai Greene likens this exercise to a fun game

Kai Greene said in the Instagram video, “We are about to make this thing happen. They are called Arnold Presses. And they are performed in a very specific way. This is how we want to perform these. All right, real simple. We’re gonna start here. Peek A Boo I see you… If you see me I see you”.

Greene used the phrase “Peek A Boo” to show how the dumbells hid one’s face when brought together in front. And then reveals his face while taking it away sideways. Thus, performing the exercise whilst having fun. Greene raises the dumbbells to the top, but the “activation” remains to the “delts”. He repeats that procedure a few times.

The Arnold Press is an interesting exercise as it helps build the shoulder muscles comprehensively. The lateral raise, military press, and overhead press are what enhance all three deltoid muscles (delts) in the shoulder – posterior, lateral, and anterior.

The importance of Arnold Presses

The Arnold Press is also one of the most effective exercises and one that bodybuilders favor a lot. This is because it helps in the symmetrical growth of the body, which is extremely crucial for bodybuilding competitions. Though Greene believes that Arnold presses are the key to “building a powerful and functional physique,” he also does heavy bench presses, barbell incline presses, barbell bench presses, etc.

Greene also reminisced about his famous rivalry with Phil Heath in recent times. He recalled that despite how much he “hates” him, Greene still has respect for him. With Greene constantly being in touch with bodybuilding, is there another comeback on the cards?
