The whole bodybuilding community was stunned by the 2023 Arnold Classic results. Yet, it wasn’t just the fans who were mistaken in their predictions; past bodybuilding legends were as well. The 3x Arnold Classic winner, Jay Cutler, is also a part of the long queue. Since his retirement, Cutler has remained active in the bodybuilding world, providing commentary and predictions on various competitions, including the Arnold Classic. However, despite his expertise and knowledge of the sport, Cutler recently found himself on the wrong side of a prediction.
The triumph of Samson Dauda in the Arnold Classic was a jaw-dropping moment for many. Even the four-time Mr. Olympia didn’t expect the result.

In the lead-up to the 2023 Arnold Classic, Cutler predicted that “The Mutant” A.K.A., Nick Walker, would be the clear favorite to win the competition considering his excellent conditioning. He was also the winner of the 2021 season of the Arnold Classic. But on the day of the competition, it was a different story. Nick Walker failed to live up to expectations, and instead, it was Samson Dauda who emerged as the surprise winner of the Arnold Classic.

Cutler, who was present at the event, recently accepted his miscalculation in predicting the winner. Cutler was gracious in his acknowledgment of his mistake on JayCutler TV. “My prediction was wrong. Samson won, and Nick did not. He got second”, Cutler said in the video.

He noted that the excellent conditioning of the top 4 made it a really tough competition. Cutler added, “It was probably one of the best line-ups that we’ve seen”. He also praised all the participants for their impressive performance and congratulated Samson on his victory. However, this wasn’t the first time his prediction about the winner has gone wrong this year.

Cutler faced a similar situation after the results of Mr. Olympia in December. The emergence of Hadi Choopan came as a shock, not only for Cutler but also for the Austrian Oak. According to the two legendary bodybuilders, Big Ramy was ahead of all as the pre-match favorites. However, Cutler had to accept the wrong prediction on the podcast with Milos Sarcev.
“We were all wrong about Ramy. Ramy did not produce as we expected,”, the former Mr. Olympia said. Jay Cutler’s miscalculation in predicting the winner of recent events serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of bodybuilding competitions.
