Actor Chris Pratt became family with legendary Hollywood actor Arnold Schwarzenegger after marrying his eldest daughter in 2019. While the thought of approaching one of the greatest bodybuilders to ask for his daughter’s hand in marriage might sound scary, Pratt managed to do so with much ease. The Guardians of the Galaxy star used their shared love for workouts to his benefit. In a 2019 episode of the Jimmy Kimmel live show, Schwarzenegger revealed how the two in-laws bonded over in the gym. 

Chris Pratt shares a very fun-loving relationship with his father-in-law. Ever since the marriage, the two men have often been seen pulling each other’s leg in interviews or on social media.

Arnold Schwarzenegger reveals the reason he wanted Chris Pratt to be his son-in-law

Schwarzenegger, in the interview, revealed that he was blown away when he first heard that his daughter was going out with Pratt. Arnold jokingly asked his daughter if it was necessary to be so competitive to get a guy who was taller than him. He further pointed out to her that Pratt was bigger than him, did bigger movies, and made more money than him. He shared that it was wild to have Pratt in the family.

Recalling his first encounter with Pratt, Arnold shared that the first thing Chris Pratt asked him was to work out together. He further revealed that while working out, Pratt wanted all the “inside scoop” of the pumping iron. On that note, Kimmel asked who does more bench presses between the two.

To this Arnold said, “You know I really don’t know because I haven’t bench pressed for a while. Because my shoulder are kind of injured. But, he is a strong guy, there is no two ways about it. And that I’m very proud of him. And like I just said, when I saw him make those moves in the gym. You know the incline press specifically did it, why I want him to become my son-in-law.” Seeing Arnold’s response, it seems like Pratt had all the boxes ticked to be his son-in-law.

How Pratt joined the Schwarzenegger family

In the same interview in 2019, Schwarzenegger told Kimmel that Pratt asked for his daughter’s hand in a very traditional way. Schwarzenegger further revealed that the deal-maker for him was the move Pratt made with the Pumping Iron.

“That Pumping Iron was the decision-making factor,” said the Terminator actor. Chris Pratt married Arnold’s eldest child Katherine Schwarzenegger in 2019. The couple had dated for just a year before deciding to tie the knot.
