Former strongman Nick Best might be the biggest advocate of the popular belief that everything happens for a reason. Last year, the famous strongman was involved in a serious accident while working out in his garage. However, even after dropping a 425-pound heavy barbell on his chest, he did not suffer any injuries at all.

However, when he later visited the doctor to get it medically checked, the strongman received some unexpected results. During his recent interview, Best revealed how a dangerous incident actually saved his life.

An accidental discovery becomes a savior!

In a recent video of Generation Iron, strongman Nick Best was featured alongside Jon Andersen, Angry Dad, and Akim Willimas. While recalling the shocking accident during the podcast, Best said, “I feel somebody literally took it out of my hand and dropped it on my chest because I’ve been lifting 40 years and never had that happened. Nothing ever like that, ever.”

But the accident turned out to be a blessing in disguise as the doctors found a tumor in Best’s kidneys during a CT scan. On behalf of Best, Andersen explained the incident.

He said, “So basically, somehow, the universe had that bar jump over two of his giant thumbs to have that bar crash into his chest to have this whole negative thing happen, which basically saved his life. Because what the doctors told him was there was one in each kidney, and they tested them, and they were growing fairly quickly.” Hence, in the caption of his Instagram post, Best mentioned why he was actually thankful for the accident.

Later, Best underwent surgery and had one of his kidneys extracted to remove the tumor. But thankfully, the surgery went well. Around a month after the incident, Best announced his retirement from the sport,  but only after setting some goals to achieve.
