In an Instagram post, Shriver expressed her emotions and anger over the situation. Since she is also a parent, she addressed the grief of the victim’s parents. In a fitting tribute to Nichols, Shriver encouraged others to speak up and instilled a fire into the hearts of her audience.

Shriver spoke up for Nichols’ parents, expressing how no parent should face such a tragedy for their child. Being a mother herself, the journalist couldn’t imagine the pain Nichols’ parents would have gone through.
In a long, detailed caption, Shriver requested, “No one should have to plea for mercy, for humanity from their fellow man. … Let’s keep his memory alive, his dignity alive, and remember him the way so many knew him, as a light in this world, the loving father, the considerate son, and the great friend with a passion for skateboarding and photography.”
