“Otherwise He Would Kill Me”: Arnold Schwarzenegger Called Quits on Age-Old Feud With Sylvester Stallone to Save Their Common Lawyer Once

A buddy who appears to be a friend but is an adversary is referred to as a frenemy using the phrase frenemy, which was created from the words “friend” and “enemy.” Similarly, one of Hollywood’s finest actors and bodybuilders, Arnold Schwarzenegger, has had a frenemy or rival since the beginning of his career. 

The whole of Hollywood is aware of the rivalry between Arnie and Sylvester Stallone since the 80s. Many people are aware of how their war started, but many are still unaware of the time when they became friends.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester’s friendship story

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s lengthy and illustrious career as a box office mogul has solidified him in film history with legendary roles in movies like the Terminator franchise and True Lies. Sylvester Stallone has also had a great career with the Rocky franchise, which spawned the hugely popular Creed movies.

Talking about the friendship beginning, Arnold stated, “it was pretty funny, but eventually it came to a crescendo, the whole thing. Then we started planet Hollywood, the restaurant chain, and they wanted me to be there as a partner. And sly’s lawyer, who was also my lawyer. He called me to say, ‘look, I know you’ve got this big deal now with the planet Hollywood people. Can we get sly in there? Because otherwise, he would kill me. He would be so jealous that you got the deal and not him.”

Arnie also added the moment which turned their relationship. Further, Arnold added how he convinced himself to end their rivalry before it peaked. Schwarzenegger said yes to the offer of his lawyer and Sylvester. So the feud that started with a pot of flowers ended with just a call.

Arnold and Sly’s bonding

Like no other actors, the two legends dominated the screens since they entered the acting world. In addition, Arnie and Sly helped to define an age of powerful, brutal, and compact action scenes in the 1980s. Working in what the Austrian Oak refers to as the action genre sparked intense competition between the two.

However, with time, the distance between them eased a bit. As they aged like fine wine, they addressed in various interviews that their rivalry was healthy. In addition, it helped them to give their best in the movies throughout the year.
