4X Mr. Olympia Jay Cutler Once Claimed Varsity Basketball Player Turned Bodybuilder Had “Better Genetics” Than Legend Ronnie Coleman

Hardcore bodybuilder fans enjoy the long-standing feud between Mr. Olympia winners Jay Cutler and Ronnie Coleman. However, both of them shows sign of mutual understanding despite their rivalry. Meanwhile, Ronnie is a pioneer in the bodybuilding industry who has won eight Mr. Olympia title single handily.
In the documentary ‘Ronnie Coleman: The King’, Jay complimented him for being the best competition. However, there was a time when Cutler compared their genes of Coleman to a basketball player who turned into a bodybuilder.

Cutler compares the genes of Ronnie Coleman
Once, during an interview with Greg Doucette, Cutler called out Ronnie’s genes. He stated, “Dexter Jackson, who you know, started as a bantamweight, so who would have thought he would have become a Mr. Olympia or someone like Phil Heath Who I saw, you know, when he was coming out of playing basketball, and I saw genetics galore. I mean, I don’t know if anyone.”

“I think he may have better genetics than necessarily Ronnie Coleman as far as muscle bellies and what it takes to attain that.”
Further, Jay also added, “But then you know someone like Ronnie who turned pro-natural and competed in his first Olympia natural, uh.”
Cutler tried to elaborate his opinion and said, “I mean, that’s genetics, right, so it’s questionable everyone has different views on genetics. I mean, I’m a wide-waisted guy, so would you really consider that great genetics?”
Although the bodybuilder’s relationship may have seen ups and downs throughout their career, it is safe to say that their respect and adoration for one another will always come out on top.

The toughest competition between Cutler and Coleman
In 2006, during Mr. Olympia’s competition, a challenging situation came in Jay’s life where his winning made him overthink. That year, he broke Ronnie’s continuous winning streak. However, he felt the weight of the trophy being heavy on his shoulders. Due to his awareness of the significance of Ronnie’s title, Cutler reportedly felt disappointed after winning.

He stated it wasn’t him who beat the best Ronnie; it was just a better day for him. After retiring from bodybuilding, Jay has been busy with his supplement business and fitness. Coleman, on the other hand, is taking care of his health after undergoing several surgeries.
