Arnold Schwarzenegger became famous worldwide for winning 7 Mr. Olympia titles, out of which six of them were consecutive. At that time, Arnold held the record for the maximum number of Mr. Olympia titles, which was broken by Lee Haney and Ronnie Coleman later on. After an ultra-successful bodybuilding career, Arnold shifted his focus to acting.
However, this shift was not unusual; quite a few bodybuilders became actors after retiring from the sport. One such bodybuilder was Lou Ferrigno. Both Arnold and Lou displayed exemplary skills as bodybuilders. They were often compared, which created a staunch rivalry between the two.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Lou’s rivalry was talked about very frequently in the media back in the day. Lou Ferrigno rose to the top, displaying his peak form after acing Mr. Universe and Mr. International. These victories gave him the confidence that he was ready to compete against Arnold. The staunch rivals went head-to-head in the 1974 edition of Mr. Olympia. Ultimately, Arnold won the contest.

A rare image of Arnold and Lou resurfaced on the internet and stunned many internet users. The 7-time Mr. Olympia winner Arnold Schwarzenegger was looking tiny next to 6’4 beast Lou Ferrigno. Even though they had a very minor height difference, Lou looked incredibly tall and muscular, towering over Arnold.

Unearthed Image Shows 235lbs Heavy Arnold Schwarzenegger Holding the Weight of Three Bodybuilding Beasts Alone on His Back
The cult classic movie “Pumping Iron” released in 1977 featured both Arnold and Lou. The scenes featuring the both of them displayed their fierce rivalry and made a permanent impression on the mind of viewers.
Arnold and Lou’s acting career
Arnold Schwarzenegger and Louis Ferrigno aka Lou followed the same path after their bodybuilding career. They both decided to try their luck in the acting business. They hoped to feature in action films, credit their heavily muscular bodies and bodybuilder personalities.

Arnold started his career by doing minor roles in TV serials. He had to wait for a long time until he got his break as a lead actor. Ferrigno played the Hulk in the TV series “The Incredible Hulk” in 1977. He, later on, co-starred in three of The Incredible Hulk TV Movies alongside Bill Bixby.
Arnold got his first big break in the film ‘Conan the Barbarian,’ which was released in 1982. The success of the film paved the way for many other lead role offers. He later played the lead role in the film “Terminator,” directed by James Cameron.
