Recently, a picture on social media of Arnold Schwarzenegger posing with Franco Columbu is winning hearts. The iconic picture shows Schwarzenegger towering over Columbu wherein both Columbu and The Austrian Oak posed outdoors. 

The picture was snapped by the poolside in Gold Coast, Australia in 1972. At a first glance, one can inevitably notice the significant difference in their heights. With 6 ft 2 in, Schwarzenegger has an advantage when compared to Franco Columbu who is 5 ft 5 in tall.

In fact, another image that saw Schwarzenegger lifting Columbu was posted by bitencourt_suplementos on 11th September 2022. Given the fact that Columbu was 185 lbs heavy, The Austrian Oak lifted his friends which took him little to no effort.

The image also hints at the fun-filled personal relationship between Schwarzenegger and Columbu despite their rivalry at bodybuilding competitions. Their bond was so strong that they were best friends. In 2019, Schwarzenegger disclosed lesser-known details of his bond with Columbu. 

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s rare revelations on his relationship with Columbu 

The Austrian Oak gave his honest remarks about Columbu in an interview where he was asked to describe some of the best characters from the movie Pumping Iron. The bodybuilding champion Franco Columbu too had played a part in this movie. Describing Columbu, Schwarzenegger said, “Franco is pretty smart but Franco is a child.” Further, Schwarzenegger expressed,“When it comes to the day of the contest, I am his father.” Columbu often came to him seeking advice related to bodybuilding.
