Lou Ferrigno, the bodybuilding icon, shared how his father’s rough methods made him stronger. He also thanked his father for being an inspiration for him to stand up against bullying.

The bodybuilding icon won his first title, way back in 1969. Later on, he started training with the bodybuilding legend, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and subsequently, participated in the 1974 Mr. Olympia competition, where he came in second. In the following year, he came in third.

His attempt to beat Arnold Schwarzenegger was the subject of the documentary, Pumping Iron.

Lou Ferrigno shares his father’s harsh methods that made him stronger!

Ferrigno opened up on the methods used by his father, which made him the strong person he is today. Giving an insight, he recalled an incident, whereby he got a beating from some friends and he came home to tell his father. He stated, “I went home and I told my father, my father gave me another beating. He said don’t ever come home and tell me.”

Ferrigno also revealed, how his father always shared wise words that made him stronger and proved to be an inspiration. “Fight harder than the average person to succeed. No one’s going to give you anything.”

Even today, Lou remembers his father’s words which continue to inspire him to this day.

Ferrigno has done many different things in his life!

Ferrigno has even done something that no one could’ve ever imagined. He has played in Canadian Football League as a defensive lineman, after taking a break from bodybuilding. Although, his football stint was short-lived. After his acting stint, he returned to bodybuilding in the early 1990s. He competed for the 1992 and 1993 Mr. Olympia titles, finishing 12th and 10th respectively. He retired in 1995.

Ferrigno is now leading a peaceful post-retirement life. He has his own line of fitness equipment called Ferrigno Fitness. In addition to this, he also keeps his association with Hollywood very much alive.
