The eight-time Mr. Olympia winner Ronnie Coleman is one of the greatest bodybuilders of all time. Coleman is also known as the holder of 26 IFBB titles. Besides his bodybuilding career, he also has a married life. Many do not know that Coleman has married twice. Ronnie divorced his first wife after nine years of marriage. He married his present wife, Susan Williamson Coleman, in 2016 after several years of dating. Since then, Susan has supported Ronnie in his ups and downs. Despite being a great supporter of his wife, Ronnie does not prefer working out with her. 

Throughout his career, Coleman has experienced multiple life-threatening surgeries. At one point, doctors stated that he might never walk again. Ronnie’s will to train was bigger than any diagnosis. He took baby steps to improve his mobility and successfully returned to training.  

Why does Ronnie Coleman doesn’t work out with his wife?

Ronnie and Susan dated for several years. The 51-year-old was his trainer. After marrying in 2016, the couple has been going strong and are parents to four adorable daughters. Ronnie has always appreciated his wife for giving him the happiest family. Recently, on Mother’s Day, he also posted a picture of his wife with his daughters and thanked Susan for all her love and efforts. He captioned the picture,

“Never could have I imagined that I would be the luckiest and happiest guy in the world to have 4 Beautiful, Wonderful, Smart daughters with you.”

Contrary to Ronnie’s love for Susan, he does not prefer working out with her. Obviously, his wife is not as big as him. So, their working out capacity is not identical. In an interview with Bodybuilding.com in 2019, Coleman expressed the same. He said, “Sometimes we do, but for the most part no. She is so small and her weights are so small that it is a lot of weight to be taking off.”

That makes sense. Although Susan was a personal trainer before, she is not as big as Ronnie. The retired bodybuilder performs a heavyweight workout that probably does not rhyme well with his wife. 

Who was Ronnie Coleman’s first wife? 

Ronnie Coleman’s first wife was Rouaida Christine Achkar, a French Lebanese personal trainer. The ex-couple met in 1998 and dated for nine years. Soon they got married at a ceremony in Beirut, Paris.

However, their marriage did not last long, and the couple decided to separate shortly after. Neither of them ever commented on their divorce, nor revealed the reason behind it.
