Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger were first spotted together at a picnic in 2018. Within a year, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver’s eldest daughter, Katherine, announced her engagement with Pratt. However, shortly after their engagement, Chris saw a clip of Katherine picking someone over him during an interview in 2017.

While the clip was two years old at that point, Chris’s heart sank. Pratt couldn’t even believe it was real. The Hollywood star thought the interviewer was playing a prank on him.

When Katherine picked the wrong Chris

In January 2019, Chris Pratt and co-star Elizabeth Banks appeared in an interview with Hollywood Access. The pair were promoting their then-upcoming film, The Lego Movie 2. However, during the interview, the host showed Pratt a clip of Katherine. In the clip, the interviewer asked Katherine to choose between Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, and Chris Pratt.

“Chris Evans,” said Katherine with no hesitation. However, she immediately redacted her answer. “Actually, Chris Pratt,” said Arnold Schwarzenegger’s daughter. She also added Chris had been “looking good lately” The clip surprised Pratt while Elizabeth Banks could only laugh. Even after the interviewer told Chris the clip was from two years ago, before the pair had met.

“When she said Chris Evans, my heart sank,” Chris told the interviewer. However, he also said Katherine rescued his heart when she said his name. Pratt couldn’t believe it was real and had no idea such a clip existed. He suggested Hollywood Access had made the clip just to play a prank on him.

Even though he didn’t expect to see his then-future wife choose Chris Evans before choosing him, Pratt didn’t forget to shout out Katherine’s book. The Guardians of the Galaxy star closed the interview with a clever line. He told everyone with kids to check out Katherine’s book “Maverick and Me”. Pratt suggested maybe people could pick up the book after watching his film in theatres.

In 2021, Chris Pratt went live on Instagram for charity. Pratt works with Greater Good Charities, and during his Instagram live session, Pratt invited many celebrities. Among them was father-in-law Arnold Schwarzenegger. However, when Arnold joined the session, he addressed Pratt with a different surname.

Hello! Chirs… Evans,” said Arnold. However, the bodybuilding icon immediately apologized for misidentifying his son-in-law. Arnold’s greeting dumbfounded Chris, who could only react with puzzled laughter. However, Arnold was only joking with Pratt.
