That’s right, it was Chris’ brother-in-law Iain Valliere, who helped him become the superstar that he is today.

In a recent interview, Bumstead revealed how his brother-in-law inspired him to take up bodybuilding. The 28-year-old even admitted Valliere is the only bodybuilder he has ever looked up to. Last week, 4x Classic physique champion Chris Bumstead appeared on the Full Send Podcast. During the episode, the host asked CBum how he first got into bodybuilding. To this, the champion replied he didn’t start bodybuilding because of his love for the sport. Instead, he just enjoyed training and pushing his limits in the gym. Bumstead admitted that he never owned a bodybuilding magazine that could’ve inspired him. However, it was Iain Valliere, who was dating his sister at the time, piqued his interest in the competitions.

Bumstead continued, “It was mainly because my brother-in-law was a bodybuilder and he was, in terms of the bodybuilding world. He’s the guy I looked up to. Because to this day… as many Pros as I met, he’s like the strongest, hardest training, most disciplined guy out of all of them.”

For CBum, Valliere was the standard. Looking at him train made CBum push himself too. Additionally, this isn’t the first time Chris Bumstead has been seen appreciating his brother-in-law.

Towards the end of last year, on 1st December 2022, Iain Valliere posted a collage flexing his jacked physique. It didn’t take long for the fans to fill the comments section with words of appreciation. Among the thousands of comments, one belonged to Valliere’s brother-in-law Chris Bumstead.

Left speechless by the physique, Bumstead had commented, “Well damn…” Another interesting fact about the duo is that they weren’t just relatives or gym buddies. Valliere was also Bumstead’s first coach. It was his brother-in-law who helped CBum prepare for the bodybuilding competitions in 2014. And rest, as they say, is history.
