Kai Greene has had to work hard for everything in life. The Arnold Classic winner didn’t have an easy childhood and even went to jail. However, he discovered bodybuilding and turned his life around. After turning pro, Kai had to grind for many years before giving Phil Heath a run for his money. Though he never beat Phil, Kai continued to give maximum effort in training.

Thus, George Farah used Greene as an example when he talked about insulin use in bodybuilding. Not just Kai Greene, George also defended the top bodybuilders and the whole sport.

Farah passionately defended Kai Greene

In June 2021, Generation Iron asked George Farah about insulin use in bodybuilding. GI asked Farah if it’s possible for a top bodybuilder to stay healthy while pushing their body to the extremes. George said it was possible. Farah then talked about Kai Greene. The legendary coach defended Kai passionately and said, “You’re gonna tell me Kai’s not a freak? I can put my hand on anything you want and swear to you that Kai never touched insulin,”.

Farah said he had known Kai for a long time, but Greene never used insulin. “We’ve been eleven years together. Never, ever, ever. Do you understand what I am saying?”. He also said, “He’s (Kai) walking around 300 lbs shredded.”

Farah also said that a regular guy can’t duplicate Kai‘s physique. “You don’t have the genetics or you don’t have the heart or work ethic.” said the coach. George has a wealth of experience as a coach and competitor. He had a successful bodybuilding career from 1989 to 2010.

Insulin is used to control diabetes. However, some bodybuilders use insulin to enhance muscle fullness. Insulin prevents cell breakdown and helps in both the absorption and storage of nutrients. Thus, bodybuilders looking quickly put on more size can exploit it.

He owes everything to Arnold Schwarzenegger

While many bodybuilders say that Arnold Schwarzenegger and his movie ‘Pumping Iron’ inspired them to start bodybuilding, Kai owes everything to Arnold. Kai had a troubled and violent childhood, however, it all changed when a teacher showed Kai the 1977 film. Arnold captivated Kai, and he even learned how to read so that he could understand the contents of Arnold’s book, Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding.

Bodybuilders getting accused of PED usage is nothing new. In fact, today many bodybuilders are transparent about using steroids. However, it’s hard to question the conviction with which Kai’s coach defended him in 2021.
