Sylvester Stallone Meeting Arnold Schwarzenegger Just After Rejecting Donald Trump’s Big Proposal Raised Eyebrows Back in 2016

The ’80s action films were dominated by two actors- Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone. The duo developed a rivalry over who made the better movies and who was the better action star. Years later, the rivalry turned into friendship, with both the actors recalling funny incidents from when they would compete against each other. They also starred together in the action movie franchise, ‘The Expendables.’

Arnold has been in a feud with former President Donald Trump, which started with the ratings of the TV reality show The Apprentice. Interestingly, Stallone and Schwarzenegger once met during a curious period.

Celebrities meeting and hanging out is rarely a big deal. But when Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone met in 2016, it was a meeting that got people talking. There were multiple reasons behind the much-publicized meeting, one of which was what happened a day earlier. During this time, Trump was still the President and considered Stallone for a major role in his administration.

Trump was considering Sylvester for the role of chairperson of the National Endowment of Arts. But Stallone denied any interest in taking up the role. According to Stallone, he would have preferred working with military veterans. The next day, Sly and Arnie sat down for a friendly meet-up, and people presumed that the mention of Trump must’ve come up at least once.

Arnold has political ties. Not only was he the Governor of California, but Schwarzenegger was also married to Maria Shriver, who is a member of the Kennedy family. Arnold also has experience working with former President George W Bush as chairman of the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports. So the other presumption being made was that they may have discussed the workings of the position.

Arnold and Trump: Friends turned Enemies

In the past, Donald Trump said that he and Arnold were “great friends.” The former President said these words on National TV during the Celebrity Apprentice in 2007. Serving as the Governor of California, Schwarzenegger appeared as a guest on the show hosted by Trump. Donald also donated $10,000 to pay off Arnold’s re-election campaign debts from 2006.

But things went south when Trump announced his presidential candidacy. Schwarzenegger refused to join him in his campaign, and in return, Trump called out Arnold for the low ratings of Celebrity Apprentice. Schwarzenegger had become the host of the show after Trump left to pursue a bigger venture.

Both these men have been quarreling since with their families, also taking a dig at each other from time to time.
