Arnold Schwarzenegger became the Governor of California after winning the 2003 California gubernatorial recall election. He served two terms as governor from 2003 to 2011. However, that meant the Hollywood action icon had to put his acting career on hold. After eight away from acting, the Terminator actor must have been eager to get back to acting, as shortly after serving his final term, Schwarzenegger announced he would star in Kim Jee-woon’s American directorial debut, The Last Stand.

While the $45,000,000 failed to pick up steam, its surprising resurgence on a streaming platform has pleased The Austrian Oak. Earlier, the bodybuilding legend and seven-time Mr. Olympia took to Twitter to post about his 2013 film.

Arnold Schwarzenegger retweeted a post by The Arnold Fans Twitter page. The tweet Arnie shared was a screenshot of “The top 10 movies in the U.S. today” on Netflix. While the screenshot showed only the top three movies, the Austrian Oak’s 2013 action thriller was on top of the chart. The action icon retweeted the post with a caption of his own.

“I’m pumped up that people are rediscovering The Last Stand,” Schwarzenegger wrote in his tweet. The Last Stand marked Arnie’s return to the silver screen in the lead role after a long absence. The movie follows Schwarzenegger’s character, Ray Owens, who is the sheriff of a small town near the border with Mexico. However, the clam town becomes a battleground as Ownes and his deputies try to stop a cartel leader from escaping into Mexico.

During the premiere, Schwarzenegger spoke to Variety about his character. “This film was a lot different for me, even though it’s action-packed because I have to play a guy who’s sensitive to my team. And we have lots of laughs like in ‘True Lies’,” he said. However, Schwarzenegger’s return didn’t turn out to be a roaring box-office success.

The $45 million film earned $6.3 million in its opening weekend. However, it fizzled out, earning $12.1 million at the domestic box office. However, it had a decent run in international markets earning $36.2 million worldwide. The Last Stand ended its box office run, earning $48.3 million. However, Arnold Schwarzenegger fans won’t have to wait too long to catch something new from the True Lies actor.
