Bodybuilding icon Arnold Schwarzenegger has a penchant for motivating people to work out. So does his son-in-law Chris Pratt, who doesn’t fall far behind Arnie’s ideals. Notably, Pratt also has an equally incredible physique to boast about. While the in-laws bond over many commonalities, like smoking cigars and their competitive nature, pumping the muscles is also something that often ties them together.

Although Chris has not been professionally active in the bodybuilding world, the 43-year-old never shies away from expressing his admiration for the sport, especially for his father-in-law and bodybuilding icon Arnold Schwarzenegger. Pratt talks from experience. After all, he has a physique worthy of fighting villains in space. What could be the reason behind the Hollywood star’s intense transformation? Let’s see!

In his recent Instagram story, Pratt revealed he had been traveling around to promote his new movie Super Mario Bros. He had just left Seoul and was currently in Paris. Amidst his busy schedule, it was important for the actor to keep up his shape and workout. That’s when he addressed one of the most commonly asked questions – how did he manage to build muscles?

Unlike usual answers like consistency or discipline towards routines, Pratt had a bizarre solution to offer. He revealed that stronger muscles come from failure. Pushing one’s muscles “until they fail” was the star’s secret to building a better physique. “It’s so crazy”, he admitted.

Evidently, this thought process would leave Arnold Schwarzenegger with his head held high. For Arnie is on a mission to expand his “village” where people put health & fitness at priority.

Furthermore, Pratt elaborated on how this method worked. Essentially, pushing oneself might lead to some injuries. But that’s what Pratt’s goal is. He revealed, “when they fail, they’ll tear a little bit. They’ll rip a little bit. That gives you the soreness. But then your body rebuilds that muscle”. It leads to the strengthening and enlarging of those muscles. The results are pretty visible on the silver screen! Maybe that’s why Arnold also admitted to doubting his strength against his son-in-law’s.

Would Arnold Schwarzenegger be able to beat his son-in-law?

The father-and-son-in-law duo has shared a friendly relationship, often bonding over exercises and cigars. Multiple interviews have revealed a fun side to their relationship. Once, in a similar interview, Schwarzenegger reviewed Pratt’s physique and spoke about their competitiveness.

When asked if Arnie could beat Pratt in a session of bench press, the Terminator admitted“I really don’t know because I haven’t bench pressed for a while. Because my shoulder are kind of injured. But, he is a strong guy”. Both actors have a similar relationship with acting and fitness, and it’s only natural for them to bond over it.
