Mark Wahlberg defied the science of bodybuilding

In 2022, Mark Wahlberg was featured in a biographical drama named Father Stu. For his role in the movie, Wahlberg gained nearly 30 lbs in a matter of six weeks. Through his healthy 11000-calorie-a-day diet he put on “healthy fat.” Talking about his diet, Wahlberg once confessed, “It was fun for about an hour.”

Wahlberg has also revealed that he had to force-feed himself even after being stuffed to the core. At one point, hardly three hours after he had a huge meal, Wahlberg had someone knocking on his door. The person on the other side was carrying yet another meal for him.

During this period, he consumed a glass of pure olive oil and dozen eggs. His diet also included a dozen pieces of bacon, a steak, and two bowls of white rice. This enormous diet helped him put on the desired quantity of weight in a short amount of time. Furthermore, it is to be noted that this wasn’t the first time he had put on 10s of pounds within a few weeks.

The Pain and Gain transformation

In 2013, Mark Wahlberg played the role of a criminal bodybuilder in the movie Pain and Gain. At the time when he was offered the role, Wahlberg weighed around 165 lbs. However, the script required the actor to have a bulked-up physique. This made Wahlberg start his journey of putting on 40 lbs in seven weeks.

By the time the shooting had started, Wahlberg weighed around 205 lbs. Not only the layman, but even the bodybuilding world was shocked by seeing Wahlberg’s incredible transformation. Professional bodybuilders gain around 10-20 lbs in more than 50 weeks. Therefore, how Mark Wahlberg managed to pull it off is still astonishing.
